#150 The Basics of Sales Engineering

Sales Engineering is so nuanced, and with 150 episodes published, we’ve talked about many topics. We’ve talked about storytelling, relationship building, demonstrations, proof of concepts. However, throughout all these episodes we rarely talked about the basics. What is sales engineering? Who would be good at it? Who should stay away?

A few months ago I put on a webinar called “The Basics of Sales Engineering”. As the title suggests, in it, I go back to basics and answer the questions mentioned earlier, and a few more.

Key Takeaways:

  • What is a Sales Engineer and what do they do?
  • The different types of Sales Engineers
  • SE Titles… the many and confusing
  • The Sales Process from an SE perspective
  • SE Organization Structure
  • Getting Paid as a Sales Engineer
  • Skills needed to be or become an SE
