4 Random Thoughts, 1 Tool, and 1 Quote
Have you heard that Money is the root of all evil? I used to think that. My wife still gets panic attacks every time I get a raise or make money from some investment. But that is a misconception.
Another misconception is that Salespeople are bad people. I hated the thought of working with them. I always felt a bit uneasy around them, and always thought that all they care about is money and that they would sell their own mother.
I found out that it might be true for some, but most are good people who really care about their customers.
This is the discussion I had with Jason Marc Campbell in this week’s podcast.
Now for this week’s YouTube video, I discuss the difference between SMB SE vs an Enterprise SE.
Now here’s the 4/1/1
4 Random Thoughts From Me:
1- Money is not evil. Money is a tool that can be used for good or evil.
2- Selling is easy when you have the right motivation.
3- There are many options and flavors of Sales Engineering, we just have to find the right one.
4- Although some roles might be viewed as stepping stones, not many people want to hire someone they know will be ditching them for a better role in a few months. We need to make sure that we don’t give out that vibe during our interview process.
1 Tool:
Webinars and workshops are a great way of learning. I’m working on scheduling some till the end of the year, but instead of scheduling what I want, I’d rather schedule what you want. So here are a few options. If you don’t see anything you like, feel free to hit reply and let me know.
Webinars:
- Getting Your First or Next SE Role
- The Basics of Discovery
- Building Your Demo
Workshops:
- Awesome Resume/Linkedin Workshop
- Customized Discovery Workshop
- Negotiating Basics
Hit “Reply”, and let me know what you think!
