4/1/1 – Getting Creative as a Sales Engineer

 

 

1- The two sides of your brain are very complex and very different – the left side is responsible for analytical and methodological thinking, and the right side is more artistic oriented.  Leveraging both sides of the brain in your daily roles can add some variety in the role for you while providing more value to your audiences.

 

2- Be authentic.  In order to really love what you do; it helps to not have to fake it.  If you can find a way or an outlet at work that allows you to showcase who you really are while not offending those around you, then do it!

 

3- A rising tide raises all boats.  It can be frustrating dealing with a stranger, a co-worker, or even a family member that you don’t agree with or that you don’t like (for whatever reason).  It can be difficult, but showing compassion to those around you, particularly those that you don’t agree with may surprise them to the point where they have no choice but to see your perspective since you have taken the time to see theirs – something that no one may have ever done before.

 

4- Be present.  I’ve flirted with meditation a little bit here and there, and as hocus-pocus-y as it can be made out to be, there’s something special about being able to just be in a moment and only in that moment.  No thoughts about the past, no thoughts about the future, just your breathing and being in the present.  This can help you get through challenges at work, worries at home, and tackle those issues that may have been plaguing you for some time, as being present may just help put things into perspective.
