#65 Sales Engineers Interview Process

In this show we will discuss:

• The interview processes that I’ve been through
• Sales Engineer interview process may be different, but many are the same
• Step 1: Apply online or through referrals
• Step 2: Phone Screening interview
• Step 3: Interview with hiring manager 
• Step 4: Interview with other members of the Sales Teams (SEs, Account Managers, Directors, VPs)
• Step 5: Demos

  • When I first moved from Network Design to Sales Engineering, that was the only time I asked for a Salary Range
  • Since then, I just tell the recruiter how much I get paid in my current company.
  • You have to pass the first step to get to the second step, second step to get to the third step, etc
  •  Out of the 4 interview processes that I mention on the podcast, I only had to do 1 demo. The first I just had a to explain a routing protocol. Second was an email that explains a technology, third was a demo, fourth was nothing.
