4 Random Thoughts, 1 Tool, and 1 Quote

Wow does time ever fly! Can you believe that we’re already well into September?!  Kids are going back to school, the weather is getting a bit chiller (at least here in the Great White North), and we know fall is right around the corner.  As the effects of the pandemic ware on, it can be interesting to think about how much time has passed and all that has taken place since it began.  Interesting perspectives are something we also explore in this week’s show, with Solution Consultant, Vaibhav “VB” Malik, to talk about his experiences working with SEs, going through interviews and more!

Check out our show with VB here.

Ramzi also uploaded his latest video to YouTube about the 3 Most Basic Skills any Presales Engineer should have to succeed.

It’s always so enriching to hear from someone who can broaden our perspectives.  It at least makes my job easier with the 4/1/1, and with that, let’s dive right in.

4 Random Thoughts From Me:

1- Know your worth.  In order to recognize red flags in an interview, you have to know what you’re willing to say no to.  Know your worth and you’ll find you have a better time in the long run.

2- At a lot of companies, particularly smaller ones with a little less established structure, there really aren’t too many rules with respect to your role.  Do what you think makes sense that drives value and you’ll likely not be discouraged from doing so.

3- As good as SEs become at learning to work with others, it’s cool to think that others also have the incentive to want to work well with us and that stakeholders are all in it together in a way.

4- Keep in touch with those you work with.  The world is very small, you never know when you may bump shoulders with those you work(ed) with.  If you really enjoyed working with one person or another, take an effort to keep in touch with them, you may just expedite an opportunity to work with them again in the future.
