If you’ve listened to my latest podcast, you know that I am annoyed by many enablement programs. It doesn’t matter if it’s for Salespeople or Sales Engineers. I find they all suck…mostly. In the podcast, I do offer some suggestions, so if you want to listen to that, here it is:

#271 Why Your PreSales Enablement Solution Sucks And How to Fix It

One way to continuously enable yourself is through a side hustle. When you have to run a “business”, you find a way to learn things, and find out what you do need to learn.

Let’s dig into this a bit with the 4/1/1

4 Random Thoughts From Me:

1- Most Sales Engineers have to continuously enable themselves in order to be successful

2- A big source of stress for sales engineers is not knowing a certain product or technology. That is one of the reasons why many spend their nights digging into a new tech or product so they are not caught off guard.

3- I like to set time aside during the day, block my calendar to learn something new. I don’t always stick to it, but if I don’t have that, I will never do it.

4- Don’t forget about the human skills required to help the customers. It’s not all about the technology.

1 Tool:

Cloud Guru

I’ve been using this the last few weeks to learn AWS. Courses are similar to that on Udemy, however the labs are much better organized and give you the chance to do them without having to follow along a video.
