4 Random Thoughts, 1 Tool, and 1 Quote

There is a big fear of automation usually as if it’s coming to replace people. This might be the case for some, but those of us in a more strategic role, automation is needed to remove the repetitive tasks that are not getting us closer to our goals. That’s why I enjoyed talking to Damian about his role as a strategic SE (Principal).

Check out the conversation here.

And check out my video about why we’re not receiving the job offer for an SE role.

Let’s dig into this a bit with the 4/1/1

4 Random Thoughts From Me:

1- Automating your position does not render it obsolete, but it enables you to do higher impact tasks.

2- Not all SE orgs are the same. Some orgs have SEs reporting to Salespeople or Sales directors (avoid at all costs). Some have different levels of SEs for promotional purposes.

3- Self Reflection is an important skill to improve. Without it, we never understand or notice the mistakes we’re doing and cannot fix them.

4- Mistakes happen. We can either freak out about it, or use them to our advantage.

1 Tool:

I’m scheduling more and more webinars to help with your career progression. Next Thursday, I’m hosting Jeff Perry who was on show 228 of the podcast to go through his workshop to help those who need clarity find it.

There will be more webinars added to the webinar page, so check it out and register.

Webinar!
