4 Random Thoughts, 1 Tool, and 1 Quote (April 15, 2020)

Welcome to the meat of the summer, vaccines are being administered, the weather has been getting nice, and national holidays are getting people back in a festive summer spirit.  As everyone gets together again, it’s fitting that this week’s show brought on Mr. Collaborator himself, John Moore, VP, Revenue Enablement at BigTinCan, to talk about revenue enablement, the importance of collaboration, and much more.

Having John on was great as there was a lot that he shared that I personally took away.  I know there is a lot that I can do to improve enablement for a number of stakeholders at my organization and am also generally a big fan of collaboration.  This week’s 4/1/1 takes from what was talked about, as always.

4 Random Thoughts From Me:

1- We’re better together.  You and those you work with are better when you work together, even if independently.

2- Know your comparative advantage.  If you or your team members specialize in certain areas of expertise, look at how you can maybe work together to focus on your respective strengths.

3- SEs are by design best suited to be collaborative.  There are so many stakeholders across an organization that SEs interface with, that being collaborative is critical as an effective SE.

4- How quickly the bad time passes.  If you’re ever in a rut, or even if you’re in one right now, know that it will eventually pass.

1 Tool:

We’ve mentioned this tool before, but when it comes to collaboration, nothing quite beats Trello.  Create a board to keep track of all of your team’s activities to stay on top of the goals you are trying to achieve together.
