4 Random Thoughts, 1 Tool, and 1 Quote

This week’s podcast brought on the founder of 2Win! Global and author of one of the foremost guides to performing effective demonstrations: “Demonstrating to Win”, Bob Riefstahl.

Listen to our conversation with Bob here:

#129 Keeping up with an Insanely Changing Sales World

It’s hard not to take in a lot when we have a guest like Bob on with the experience he has.  Here are 4 random thoughts that came to mind after listening to the show (and while writing this down).

4 Random Thoughts From Me:

1- Keep Grinding the Axe. No matter how many years you have under your belt, there’s always something else to learn. Especially in a fast-evolving world as we’re in today, making sure you’re working hard to stay on top of your game is key. There are always new skills and techniques to learn and master to be even better at what you do.

2- Importance of Open Mindedness. Bob talked about going into calls with an open mind, and I couldn’t agree more. It’s so easy to get caught up in a “script” or “flow” that you think is best based upon what you’re used to. Take a step back and make sure that you’re delivering the most value to the audience at hand, everyone has different needs and requirements, and the more you tailor the conversation to them, the more likely you are to win the deal.

3- Change is Constant. Things are changing all the time, whether it be your knowledge base, your company’s product, the pains felt by customers, the general market or anything else really. Knowing is half the battle to adjust yourself when you need to.

4- This doesn’t have much to do with the show, but if you’re working from home, make sure you move around! Most of you reading this are likely experiencing some temperature drops in your respective regions too (and I’m super jealous of those that are not), which doesn’t make it any easier, but prolonged sitting has some really negative effects on our health and it’s important that we get up and move around.

Classroom 2.0:

This isn’t really a tool, but rather a course to educate those that have to present and teach virtually to do so more effectively.
