4 Random Thoughts, 1 Tool, and 1 Quote

Sales Engineers are known to solve their customer’s problems. Like any human, we have problems of our own. That is something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. Many of the Sales Engineers I work with face challenges day in and day out. If we ignore them, more and more will just add up until we cannot take them anymore.

That is part of the conversation that I had with this week’s guest Fil Capiral, one of my clients. He had some challenges to overcome, good challenges, which he had to solve, and that lead to him excelling at his job.

Check out the podcast here.

And this week’s video, I discuss one challenge I had due to a reorganization that my employer went through, and how I fixed it.

Now let’s get to the 4/1/1

4 Random Thoughts From Me:

1- Jocko Willink talks about “Prioritize and Execute”. This is when you are having several challenges, figure out which one if solved has the biggest bang to the buck, and then attack that.

2- Solving a problem is not always straightforward. Just because the first solution we think of doesn’t work, doesn’t mean there is no solution. It just means that we have to tweak, experiment, or try different things to figure out a solution.

3- Take pleasure in the process. At the risk of clicheing, enjoy the journey, not the destination. Once you get to the destination, it’s done and you need to find a new destination. That means the pleasure from reaching the destination is fleeting.

4- Set some thinking time aside. We cannot come up with solutions if we don’t think about it.

1 Tool:

Clipboard Manager

This is a built-in tool already available in Windows which enables your PC to remember whatever you cut previously, and you’re not limited to the last thing you copied or cut. All you have to do is hit the “Windows” button + V and enable it.

If you’re a Mac user, well, I cannot help you there 🙂 I’m sure there is something for you out there.

1 Quote:

“Prioritize your problems and take care of them one at a time, the highest priority first. Don’t try to do everything at once or you won’t be successful.” – Jocko Willink
