4 Random Thoughts, 1 Tool, and 1 Quote

This week we I talked with Brian Geery about the best practices for onboarding Sales Engineers. Turns out it starts from hiring.

Listen to this discussion here.

And I rant about how startups don’t hire SEs early enough, or at least know what the presales process is.

Let’s dig into this a bit with the 4/1/1

4 Random Thoughts From Me:

1- If you don’t have the answer to questions, technical or otherwise, in an interview, make sure that you provide those answers in the follow up email. That’s what you do as a Sales Engineer anyways.

2- The hardest part of any task is getting started. Brandon Turner, a millionaire of bigger pockets fame was told as he was starting his Jiu Jitsu Journey that the hardest belt to get is the white belt. You get that from simply starting and showing up. So if you’re looking for a job, START connecting with everybody. Once you get momentum, that’s when you narrow your search.

3- Every obstacle is an opportunity.

4- The more you get people to talk about themselves, the more they like you. This is also true in interviews. You still need to answer questions, but don’t forget to ask the questions that get them talking.

1 Tool:

I just listened this book and it put a lot of challenges into perspective. I think it’s useful to anyone who is struggling at work or struggling to find work or simply struggling.
