4 Random Thoughts, 1 Tool, and 1 Quote

Some people fall into sales engineers. Others are helped into the role and some struggle for years knowing that the Sales Engineering role is the only role they want.

I fell into the role, Gareth Jones, this week’s podcast guest, was helped into the role, but still, we had to work hard to do the job that doesn’t really have a manual.

If you want to hear my conversation with Gareth, check it out here.

If you are looking to get a job, you should check out some of the tips I offer in my latest YouTube video.

Let’s dig into this a bit with the 4/1/1

4 Random Thoughts From Me:

1- If you’re looking to transition into any role, check if you’re current industry or company can support you with that. For example, the British Military Service Supported Gareth by providing him with a placement to get into Sales Engineering.

2- As Sales Engineers, our job is not to know every answer, but to know where to get answers to every question.

3- The best time to grow your network is now, whether you need it or not.

4- A resume does not get you a job, your connections will.

1 Tool:

It’s a 2-for-1 Special today as I know some are looking for jobs:

1- SENY Meetup with Chris White this March! – Great place to dig your well.

2- Who’s Still Hiring? Find a Tech Job with Open Roles

1 Quote:

“Dig the well before you are thirsty.” – Don’t know who. Probably someone much smarter than me.
